Ahem, also you should all know that this is a JOINTLY Prologue out so far written fic with from one of my former co-writers named now DroppedSorry whom has been MIA for continuing to help me with this story for quiet a long time. Nevertheless, I thank her none the less anyway for helping me get this prologue out none the less when she was into helping me with it. This fic picks up where episode twenty-six of the anime left off! It is a mixture of romance/drama/angst/humour just like the real thing! Warnings are posted below. Please REVIEW!

A soft breeze blew past the figure of a slender young man who was sitting down on the wooden deck his eyes narrowed slightly. He was extremely handsome, beautiful even by some standards. His features were soft and delicate, almost feminine, however his dark eyes were cold and hard. He was Sohma Akito, the head of the cursed Sohma family. He was their God, his word was law. And yet those stupid animals dared disobey him, they dared question him, and act against him. All because of that girl...
His pupils narrowed into slits.
Honda Tohru.
The girl had left with the dog and rat hours ago and yet the images of what had happened burned fresh in his mind.
-Flashback-
He tightened his grip on her hair ignoring the dog and the rat as they tried to stop him from harming their precious girl. Anger and satisfaction coursed through him as he watched the tears fall down her face. This was what the girl got for thinking that she could-
And then she spoke.
''I don't know what your family's curse is, but I'm happy. I'm happy that I know you, Akito. And I don't regret meeting you, or anyone. Not at all. I want to know you. Please tell me how you feel. Even if you're angry, or bitter, or frustrated, that's okay! Because the important thing is, right now, Akito, you're alive." His eyes widened as he slowly began to comprehend what she had said. He then slowly released his firm hold on the girls hair, her words echoed in his mind and as he sensed the dog and rat loosen their grips he shoved them to the side with all the strength in his slender body. Staggering backwards he looked outside.
"I don't know..." Was his only reply. He showed no sign of noticing them as the Hatori and Shigure ushered the girl and Yuki out of the room to leave him by himself. He stood, not moving a single muscle several minutes after they left before once more walking outside of his room, sitting down and staring at the sky.
"I don't know..."
-End Flashback-
"I don't know..." He muttered softly to himself again. He didn't understand that girl, she was an enigma. Something inside him...felt...strange. Different. And it irratated him slightly. How was it that with mere words that girl was able to effect him even in a minor way? He watched as a small white bird flew towards him and he held up his index finger for the creature to perch on. Maybe he should see the girl again, indeed...it might prove effective in muzzling those animals. An intriguing possibility...he would have to consider it. Also-
"Akito-san?" The voice of the dragon snapped Akito out of his thoughts irratating him slightly. He didn't answer hoping that the dragon would take a hint and leave him be, but Hatori walked outside and stood beside the head of the family, "Akito-san?"
"What do you want?" Akito demanded his voice full of ice as he turned his gaze towards the dragon who firmly held his ground. Hatori was now used to Akitos constant mood swings, this was no different from any of the others.
"You should go inside now, it's getting cold." Hatori said calmly, Akito turned away from him and looked once more up at the darkening sky before he slowly rose to his feet.
"Very well..."
''I don't know what your family's curse is, but I'm happy. I'm happy that I know you, Akito. And I don't regret meeting you, or anyoe. Not at all. I want to know you. Please tell me how you feel. Even if you're angry, or bitter, or frustrated, that's okay! Because the important thing is, right now, Akito, you're alive."

Sohma Shigure sat in his study his dark eyes held a distant expression in them. As if he were entirely lost in his own world. He had changed out of his suit and into the casual yukata he often wore. In one hand was a pen which he tapped carelessly against a piece of paper and the other was resting on the telephone as if he were expecting a call. A soft smile crossed his face as he sniffed the air. The delicious scent of Tohru starting dinner filled the entire household. He sighed and glanced over at the phone. Hatori had better call soon. A loud crash startled Shigure momentarily before he shrugged it off. Yuki and Kyou were probably fighting...again. The distincts yells of 'damn rat' 'stupid cat' and the sound of paper doors breaking could be clearly and once more Shigure sighed.
"Why can't they just fight outside?" He wondered out loud running a hand through his hair when the phone rang. Shigure quickly picked it up, "Haa-san?"
"Yes, I know what you're going to ask. And no Shigure, he hasn't ordered Tohru-kuns memories to be erased." Came Hatoris voice from the other line, Shigure let out a slight sigh of relief and then leaned back in his chair. There was a brief silence before Shigure spoke.
"You're wondering too aren't you? Do you think it's possible that what Akito might have actually been effected by what Tohru-kun said to him?" Shigure asked, another silence fell over the two men. But still the cracks and crashes of Yuki and Kyous fighting could be heard. Then Hatori answered.
"It appears we'll just have to wait. If anyone would be able to change him, it would be her. But I wouldn't bet on it Shigure." Hatori said,Shigure paused for a brief moment.
"On another note, Rin will be out of the hospital soon yes?"
"Yes. Rin and Kureno are the last two of us who have yet to meet Tohru-kun, do you think they'll even bother?" Hatori asked, Shigure yawned loudly.
"It's possible. All of the zodiac have come to meet Tohru on their own accord you know. They might just come to meet her just to see if she truly is the light in this dark miserable family of ours." Shigure yawned again, but louder this time, "well Haa-san, you're right. We will just have to wait and see."
"So it appears, Shigure. Watch over her, we don't know what Akito might do." And with that Hatori hung up, Shigure slowly lowered the phone onto the reciever. He then stood up and stretching he slid open the door to his office and walked towards the kitchen humming softly on his way down.

"YOU KUSO NEZUMI! STOP BEING SUCH A WISE ASS AND TELL ME WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED!" Kyou shouted at Yuki who was sitting down at the low table watching TV ignoring the fuming neko.
"I already told you you stupid cat." Yuki said not even bothering to look at Kyou.
"THAT WASN'T EXPLAINING ANYTHING YOU DAMN RAT!" Kyou shouted again, "AND JUST BECAUSE YOU BEAT ME IN THAT LAST FIGHT DOESN'T MEAN YOU WILL IN THE NEXT ONE!"
"If you didn't understand my explaination it's only because your brain is incapable of comprehending even the slightest amount of information, thus proving my belief that you truly are a complete moron. And as for the fight it could hardly even be called that, if you can't learn to keep your guard up longer then a few minutes, it's simply me just hitting you." Yuki said carelessly continuing to watch the news.
"ALRIGHT THAT'S IT SISSY BOY! PREPARE TO DIE!"

Shigure continued hummed softly walking towards the room where Kyou and Yuki were, but just as he was nearly close enough to reach out and open the sliding paper door a large object with distinct orange hair flew through shattering the doorway and landing hard on the wooden floor. Shigures eyes shifted and he looked in through the large Kyou shaped hole in the paper door and saw Yuki once more casually sitting and watching TV.
"You know, you're going to have to fix that." Shigure said, Yuki merely nodded and Kyou was cursing under his breath.
Shigure sighed yet again.
"Why oh why must the world conspire against my house?"

Tohru lay beneath her pink bed spread staring out the window and up at the full moon. The other residents of Shigures home were fast asleep right now. All except her.
I wonder if Akito-san will still want to erase my memories...She thought sadly a wave of grief flowed over her. Living with Shigure...Yuki...and Kyou...she didn't want to give that up. But there wasn't anything that she could do...Akitos word in the world of the Sohmas was law.
All she really could do...was pray...
Please, don't let my memories get erased. Please let Akito-san understand...She silently pleaded. She sat up slightly and still watched the moon. Akito...
"I promise Mom, I'm not going to give up. Not on myself, and not on anyone, not even Akito."

Tohru was not the only one who was unable to fall asleep that night. Akito lay down on his futon his facial expression stoic as he once more sifted through what Tohru had told him.
"I'm happy that I know you, Akito. And I don't regret meeting you. I want to know you. Please tell me how you feel. Even if you're angry, or bitter, or frustrated, that's okay! Because the important thing is, right now, Akito, you're alive."
That girl...what did she know? What did she understand about the burden of being cursed? He should just have her memories erased and be done with her.
But he wouldn't.
"Alive..." He whispered softly to himself, he looked down at his hands. Slowly examined the slender fingers that were little more then bone. In many peoples opinion he was a walking skeleton, barely alive.
"...you're alive."
Honda Tohru...
An enigma, and a potential threat to him.
A wise man had once said, 'keep your friends close, but keep your enemies closer.'
And that is what he would do.
Tomorrow he would have the girl brought to the main house once more. He would figure out this enemy of his.
But also...for some reason...
Deep down, under the darkness and misery that was his heart hewanted to hear those words of comfort, wanted to feel, to reach out and touch the warmth she seemed to eminate in her aura.
A slow cruel smile graced his features.
He knew exactly what to do.
