It was going to be a long week. The week before finals was always a stressful one, especially for Tohru. Tohru was always an average student but lately she’d been
Having more trouble with her school work than usual. Yuki was always doing things with the student council and didn’t have as much time to help her. Neither Kyo nor Shigure could be any help to her with her studies so she was on her own and tried to do the best she could.

The night before the first day of finals Tohru once again locked herself in her room to study. Unfortunately for Tohru she wasn’t getting anywhere, she simply could not understand Trig. She had decided days before that she was going to ask Yuki for help but she didn’t want to bother him. After all he had student council and he of course would have to study as well in order for himself to do well. ‘Well maybe I can just ask for help with this one problem’
She got up and headed towards Yuki’s door. She knocked lightly on the door three times.
“Uh Yu-ki-kun?” Tohru stammered, embarrassed.
She heard no sound and decided to open the door a bit and see what he was doing. She saw Yuki had fallen asleep on his desk. His hair brushing over his eyes and a faint smile on his lips. ‘I wonder what he is dreaming about’ Tohru wondered. She seemingly unconsciously took a step into the room to get a little closer. When Tohru realized how vulnerable Yuki looked when he was asleep a faint flush appeared on her cheeks.
Tohru hadn’t made a sound and yet somehow Yuki was able to sense her presence. He stirred and lifted a hand to his face to wipe the sleep from his eyes. Yuki lifted up his head and spotted Tohru standing there watching him. Shock ran through him. ‘What is Tohru doing here? How long has she been there? Am I still dreaming?’
Tohru looked at Yuki’s shock ridden face and flushed a deep red.
“I-I came b-because I need some he-help studying, I-I didn’t mean to disturb Yuki-kun, I’ll just leave. I-I’m so sorry Yuki-kun.”
Yuki smiled shyly at Tohru, he had just been dreaming about her again and was happily surprised to find out she had been looking for his help.
“Honda-san really there is no need to apologize, I’d love to help you I would have done so sooner but I have just been so busy running student council…” He paused thinking about all the countless hours he wasted in the student council room dreaming about Tohru. “Anyways Honda-san what is it you needed help with?” He got up to get another chair for Tohru at his desk.
Tohru took another two steps into the room still timid. “Well I actually just needed help with a few of these Trig. Problems I just can’t seem to understand them.”
Yuki sat down once again and lightly patted the chair next to him. A gesture for Tohru to sit down with him. “Let’s have a look at them and see if I can be of any help.”
Tohru sat down next to him, surprisingly comfortable by being so close to him. She could smell the faint smell of his cologne and it nearly intoxicated him. Tohru pointed at the problems she had needed help with but found it hard to concentrate. She always found herself glancing at Yuki’s seemingly perfect face. The tie he was wearing as loosened and he had unbuttoned the first two buttons on his shirt. Tohru could see a hint of his perfectly toned chest and flushed a deep red.
Yuki noticed her flush and looked up. His eyes confused and a bit worried.
“Honda-san? Are you feeling alright? Can I get you something?”
Tohru shook her head embarrassed. She tried to concentrate harder on what Yuki was saying. ‘Yuki-kun obviously doesn’t feel the same way I do. I should just concentrate on my studies and stop fantasizing about what never could happen.’
“I-I’m fine Yuki-kun, really we should keep going. Finals are tomorrow.”
Yuki nodded in agreement and continued on his explanation of sin and cosine. Pausing every once and a while to make sure Tohru understood everything. He also kept furtively sneaking glances at Tohru. The way her espresso colored hair fell around her below her shoulders or her soft, warm brown eyes. Yuki loved the color of her cheeks when she flushed from embarrassment or the happy, timid smiles she gave to him when she understood a new concept. He loved being this close to her, her floral scent made it extremely difficult to concentrate on tutoring her. Yuki had to keep fighting the urge to just touch beautifully pale milk white skin. His entire body tingled at the thought of touching her. ‘No, I’ve got to concentrate Honda-san needs my help.’ He convinced himself for there was no way anyone could love a rat like himself so he didn’t even bother to hope.

Somehow during the night both Yuki and Tohru fell asleep at the desk. Yuki had wrapped his arm around Tohru and Tohru had snuggled in close to Yuki. She made herself comfortable in his arms. Yuki woke in the middle of the night to Tohru at his side. He blinked. This couldn’t be happening; he didn’t even remember dozing off. ‘This has to be a dream and seeing as it is…’ Yuki tightened his grip around Tohru’s waist and Tohru subconsciously snuggled in closer to Yuki. Yuki sniffed Tohru’s floral scented hair, his lips brushing against her forehead. Tohru stirred and looked up sleepily at Yuki.
“Yuki-kun?” She said sleepily.
Tohru was slowly waking up and realizing what was going on. Yuki had his arm around her and she was snuggled up close to him. She flushed a deep red and looked up at Yuki-kun worriedly.
“Yuki-kun I-I hope…I mean to say that if I-I’m making you uncomfortable I can move…I mean I guess we both just fell asleep and-”
Yuki cut her off. “I am actually quite comfortable actually…I didn’t have a problem I mean we just happened to fall asleep…It’s not as if anything happened.”
Yuki looked away unable to look at Tohru for the moment.
“Y-Yes I suppose I just moved in so close because I was cold while asleep…yes that’s it. I hope Yuki-kun isn’t mad at me…” Tohru looked down embarrassed by her earlier forward behavior. ‘How could she have snuggled up to him? Yuki-kun was clearly embarrassed and uncomfortable.’
Yuki stood up and Tohru followed suit still looking at her feet. Yuki’s hand reached up and picked up Tohru’s chin so she would look at him. His eyes filled with mixed emotions as he gazed at Tohru. His face only inches away from hers. “Honda-san I could never think less of you. I…” He looked at her with pleading and hopeful eyes.
Without seeming to think about it Tohru closed the space between them and kissed him softly. Wordlessly expressing her feelings for Yuki and hoping he felt the same way. Yuki was shocked but none the less responded to the kiss. He wrapped her arms around her waist bringing her close to him Tohru wrapped her arms around his neck reaching up to deepen the kiss.
The sound of a window being shut echoed into the room from one of the room’s down the hall.
They broke apart. “I-I should probably get back to my room…finals…tomorrow.” Tohru said breathlessly
Yuki could only nod, speechless at what just happened.
Tohru silently backed of the room and headed to her own bedroom. Both Yuki and Tohru unsuccessfully tried to go to sleep wondering at what was going to happen tomorrow.
