A Chance by Kagome-dono
CH. 1: A Strange Experience
“Ohayo Honda-san”
“O… Ohayo gozaimasu, Sohma-kun.” Tohru greated
Yuki with a smile as he walked into the kitchen. “Would you
like something to eat? It’s almost done.” She Turned
back to the stove and stirred its contents around.
“I would like that.” Yuki smiled. Just then a sleepy
eyed Kyo walked in. His orange hair disheveled from sleep. Tohru
looked over her shoulder at him.
“Ohayo, Kyo-kun. Breakfast is almost ready.” She greeted
him cheerfully. He responded with a slight nod, walking over to
the refrigerator and opening the door. He grabbed the milk and started
to drink from the carton. Yuki narrowed his eyes at him.
“Baka neko. That was the only carton of milk left. What
if Honda-san needed that to cook with?” Yuki scolded Kyo.
“No one wants to use that after you put your dirty lips on
it.” Kyo glared at Yuki.
“What was that, kuso nezumi!” Kyo growled angrily.
Sensing that a fight was about to erupt, Tohru turned from the stove
and put her hands in front of her.
“It’s alright Sohma-kun…” Tohru started.
“I said you should mind your manors and apologies to Honda-san.”
Yuki growled back.
“Iie, It’s alright, really. I don’t…”
Tohru tried again.
“Maybe you should shut up for once you bastard! You looking
to get your ass kicked?” Kyo shouted, waving his fist at him.
Tohru stepped closer to them.
“Don’t fight. I don’t need the milk right now.
It’s alright… really.” She pleaded with them.
Yuki looked at Tohru with a small smile.
“If that’s what Honda-san wants then I guess he can
make up for it by buying some more.” Yuki said. He turned
around and walked out of the kitchen to kneel at the table. He needed
to keep his cool before he blew up in front of her. Tohru looked
at the fuming Kyo, who was still looking at the spot where Yuki
disappeared out the door. She smiled at him and tilted her head
a bit. Placing her hand reassuringly on Kyos shoulder. Causing him
to look at her. His anger draining away as he looked into her beautiful,
blue eyes. He blushed and straitened up. Turning away slightly.
“Lets eat Kyo-kun, then we’ll go to the market together.”
Tohru said, squeezing his shoulder lightly. This caused him to blush
deeper.
“Y… You don’t have to. I drank it. I should
get it.” Kyo said nervously. Trying to gather his jumbled
thoughts. She didn’t know what her innocent touch did to him!
He wanted so bad to kiss her senseless right then and there. Instead
he quickly walked over to the trash bin and threw out the empty
carton. When he looked back at her she had turned back to the stove
and started to prepare a tray of deliciously smelling food. The
corner of his mouth turned up a bit into a smile. If only she new
how much he wanted her. But yet he didn’t want to admit what
he felt. He then left to kneel at the table. He was starved!

Walking back from the market, Tohru held a bag of groceries as
she smiled up at Kyo, who was looking everywhere but her. His cheeks
were a light shade of pink as he listened to her sweat voice as
she tried to make small talk with him. For the last couple of days
he had come to the shocking conclusion that he actually enjoyed
her company,
A LOT, and liked her a lot more than he wanted to admit. This had
scared him a bit because he wasn’t sure what to do about it.
Every time he looked into her blue orbs he wanted to grab her and
kiss her till she was breathless. Tohru had sensed his discomfort
in something and tried to cheer him up. But this only made things
worst for him. All the attention she was giving him made him feel
weird, but not in a bad way. He actually felt warm and comforted
at the same time, and yet a bit scared. His stomach would feel as
if a dozen butterflies were flying about, trying to escape. Then
melt into a pool of warm liquid and rise to heat his face.
“Kyo-kun is a bit quiet today. Would you like to talk about
it? Okasan always said to not keep troubled thoughts bottled up.
It will only make things worse for you.” Tohru said in a dream-like
state as she recalled the words her mother had told her when she
was younger. Kyo looked at her from the corner of his eyes. He wanted
to tell her how he felt about her. But how? He’s never liked
someone like this before.
He was about to tell her to stop worrying about other people and
think about her self for once when a sudden tension filled the air.
The hairs on the back of his neck stood up on edge as he sensed
another presence other then theirs. He suddenly stopped and put
out a hand to stop Tohru. She looked up at him confused. His posture
was slightly crouched, his teeth clenched together as he scowled.
His eyes darted around the woods as he scanned for any movements.
His ears picked up a slight “click.”
He suddenly whirled around as a tall, dark figure, dressed in
a black drench coat with a hood over his head that sent a dark shadow
about his features, stepped from behind a tree. He held in his hand
a small pistol cross bow that was aimed at him. He heard Tohru gasp
and he quickly pulled her behind him.
“Who the hell are you!” Kyo demanded the stranger.
Tohru looked over Kyos shoulder at the tall man dressed in black.
She slowly stepped in front of Kyo and nervously smiled at the strange
man. Before Kyo could react, she spoke up.
“Ano…” She began, but at that moment he pulled
the trigger. Kyo quickly shoved her to the side, the arrow hitting
him in the chest. On impact, a cloud of orange smoke engulfed them.
Tohru hit the ground with a loud thud just as the orange powder
touched her. Both started to cough till the powdery substance subsided
and disappeared. When they looked back at the tall man, he was gone.
“Kuso, that bastard!” Kyo growled furiously.
“Kyo-kun… are you hurt?” She asked softly as
she tried to pull her self into a sitting position, but found it
difficult since she felt dizzy and drained of her energy. She felt
really weak and tired. Kyo was by her side in an instant. He grabbed
her small hand and helped her up. He to felt a bit wavy on his feet.
As she stood, her vision started to tilt and she fell forward into
Kyo. The sudden action caught him off guard and they both sprawled
to the dirt path. When he opened his eyes he found himself looking
into dazed, blue ones. She was lying on top of him. Her hands caught
between there bodies, his circled around her slim waist. They both
blushed and her eyes opened wide.
“K…Kyo-kun…wwwhy aren’t you…”
Tohru stammered. Turned into a cat? He finished her sentence in
his head. He was just as shocked as she was. “Gom… gomen
nasai! Kyo-kun!” she apologized quickly as she noticed she
was still laying on top of him. She went to get off him when she
felt his hand rest lightly on her cheek. His other arm putting slight
pressure to her back to keep her in place. He wiped away a dirt
spot that marred her rosy cheek. She blushed at his bold action
but couldn’t seem to pull away from his touch. She kind of…
liked it. It made her feel warm. It just felt right to be in his
arms. She swallowed nervously and her breathing came out in small
puffs of air. She felt his hand on her cheek slowly move up and
entwine in her hair. She felt a little pressure as he guided her
face down to his.
There noses almost touching, Kyo could feel her small puffs of
air caress his face. She had slowly closed her eyes, feeling the
same sensations he was. Their heart beet accelerating as he brought
his face up and caressed his lips against hers in a feathery kiss.
The touch of his lips sent an electric current threw out her body.
Kyo, feeling the same current, baldly tightened his grip on her
as he bent his head for another kiss. This time, he put his full
weight of his lips on hers in a heart-stopping kiss.
The slight flick of his tongue on her lips brought her back to
reality. What was she doing! She broke the kiss abruptly and firmly
pushed against his chest. As he let go, she shot up to her feet.
With another apology and a slight bow, Tohru ran the rest of the
way to the house.
Kyo lay there, slightly breathless from the kiss. He looked up
towards the sky. A far away look play in his eyes. Slowly he brought
a hand up to his lips and touched them.
“Tohru…” He said her name softly to no one in
particular. He was falling in love… and it felt so right.
