**Domo arigatou **

(We see Akito, with his usual smug smirk, going up to Yuki and talking to him (with Kureno in the background). Yuki's eyes widen. But we don't hear any of the dialogue, just Yuki's thoughts).

Yuki: *I want to believe I'm not mistaken, I want to believe it's not all dark-- no matter how badly I'm hurt.*
Yuki: *Ever since that day, kindness has been given to me.*

(We see Yuki, as a child, giving the cap to Tohru.)

Yuki: Ever since then.

(Back at the main beach house, where everybody else is gathered at).

Tohru: Akito-san is here...?
Shigure: Yeah, he apparently arrived not too long ago.
Momiji: Will Akito be staying with us?
Shigure: Of course not! But at any rate, we have to go meet him.
Tohru (worried): ....
Hiro: Should we change clothes?
Shigure: You don't need to.

Tohru: *I met Akito-san in April, but...*
Tohru: *.....!*
Tohru: *Yuki-kun, he's...*
Shigure: Where's Yuki-kun?
Hatsuharu: He's out for a walk.
Shigure: Really? In that case he can join us later.
Kyou: Hey. You don't mean to make Tohru go too, do you.

Shigure: Nope! Just the family for today. We'll reserve Tohru-kun for another day.
Shigure: Sorry, don't feel bad about it, okay?
Tohru: Eh?! No, not at all, I'm fine--

(We see Kisa let out a breath of relief.)

Shigure: Okay. Well, we'll let you and Kyou-kun look after the house for us. I don't think we'll be out too late.
Tohru: ! Um.... *Even in a time like this, the cat Kyou is...*

Kyou: Haven't we already told you? The cat doesn't get to go these sorts of gatherings.

(Tohru is shocked/saddned).

Momiji: We're going now.
Kyou: Come back soon.
Hatsuharu: Goodbye...

(The five jyunishi-- Shigure, Hatsuharu, Hikro, Kisa, and Momiji-- walk out gloomily.)

Tohru: (I feel as though all the warmth has been wiped out).

Kyou tells Tohru-- perhaps to make her feel better, perhaps to vent out his own feelings-- that Akito always does that sort of thing, that he likes wiping off the smile off people's faces. Tohru sadly thinks of how Akito-san does, after all, make everyone's hearts heavy. Including Kyou-kun and Yuki-kun...

But rather than be depressed, she screams, "GAAAAOOOO!"

Kyou: Gao?!
Tohru (hectic): It's because it's a bad thing to be depressed and I shouldn(t be! Right! Right! Let's cheer up! Be lively!
Kyou: I have NO idea what you're going on about, calm down.
Tohru: Let's... let's make something! By the time everyone gets back they might be hungry! Kyou-kun, is there anything you want to eat?!
Kyou: ....Pancakes.
Tohru: That's a great idea!! I didn't know you liked pancakes!

Kyou: No, I just wanted to try it because I've never eaten them before.
Tohru: Do you mind that they're sweet?
Kyou: They're sweet?! (Aren't they a kind of bread?)
Tohru: Pancakes are like hotcakes (and what about the "cake" part?).

(The two of them have considerably cheered up.)

Tohru: *We'll be waiting for everyone to return.*

(We see the jyunishi people walking. Hiro and Kisa are holding hands. :D)

Hiro: Kisa... are you okay?
Kisa: Yeah... But, why did he... Akito-san... come so suddenly?

Kisa (worried): He's not going to hurt onee-chan, is he...? He won't hurt her, will he?

(They think back to when Kisa was in the hospital, wrapped in bandages.)

Kisa: I'm really scared over that...

(Hatsuharu and Momiji are walking a few steps in front of Kisa and Hiro. Momiji looks back at them).

Momiji: Everyone's down-hearted. Sou da yo ne mae bure mo naku kitamono ne (Akito).
Momiji: I wonder if Yuki's going to be okay, meeting him...

Hatsuharu: You should probably be thinking of yourself. You're not loved by Akito, after all.
Momiji: I'm fine! I'm used to it.
Momiji: I hope it ends soon!
Hatsuharu: That's a little too fast.
Momiji (laughing): I guess so!
Momiji: ...Still, I want to go back soon...

(They arrive at Akito's place. Shigure announces to Hatori that they're there, and the two of them talk for a bit. Shigure tells Hatori that Tohru stayed at home, and Hatori tells Shigure that Akito is suffering from the heat. Shigure notes that he's surprised that Akito had Kureno come along-- after all, he still hasn't had Kureno meet the jyunishi. Hatori says that perhaps not having Kureno by Akito's side would be worrisome.

Shigure: Fuan? Fuan ne... A! 'Ren'-san ga chokkai demo dashite kitatoka?
Hatori: Don't talk so freely.

(They go to where Akito and Kureno are waiting).

Akito: Shigure. How long were you planning to stay and gosship? Haven't I told you before to come straight to me! Always!
Shigure: Today, Akito-san, everyone's come to meet you.
Akito: You're late. Don't act like a fool, be more quick in your actions.

Shigure: I'm afraid you're right. I'm sorry.
Akito: ...That's enough. Kureno, you can go now. You don't have to meet the others.

(Kureno-- who, incidentally, up until this point has been poker-foced-- gets up and leaves).

Hatori: Akito...
Shigure (looking out where Kureno left): ....
Hatori: How about letting Kureno meet the others every once in a while?

(In a rather o.O;;; type action, Hatori kneels in front of Akito, and Akito wraps his arms around Hatori's neck in a selfish hug.)

Akito: Why? There's no need to. More importantly, I just met up with Yuki.

(Shigure's expression is unreadable, as is Hatori's. But neither of them look happy).

Akito: He was all by himself, so I gave him a bit of company.
Shigure: Well, well. That was quite kind of you.
Akito (still hugging Hatori): Of course! I'm always thinking of him, after all. I gave him some friendly advice.

(We see a flashback of Yuki's face from earlier this chapter-- his eyes widening as Akito talks to him).

Akito: He looked somewhat shocked. I bet he's out there somewhere crying his eyes out; that's so like him, isn't it?

(Akito bursts into gleeful laughter).

Akito: Ufufufu, ahahahah, he's such an IDIOT!
Akito: He should have come back to me immidiately, after all that effort I made to need him. What a silly guy!

(Akito leans against Hatori's chest, giggling).

Hatori: Akito...

Shigure: ...That certainly is the case. How about we go over to where the others are waiting?
Akito: All right. Yes, I'll go see them.

Akito: Shigure, don't you leave.
Shgure: I wouldn't dream of it.

(Akito leaves).

Shigure: ...Is he angry?
Hatori: ....
Shigure: I'm scared of that silence...

Hatori: ...No. More than me, who can do nothing, you who can change their manner like that... might be more proper.
Shigure: What?! Hey, Hatori, you're supposed to be lecturing me!

(This panel is really cute. XD Shigure, shocked, starts to shake Hatori, who firmly remains stony-faced with his arms crossed. An arrow points to Shigure labeling him as "weak," and one to Hatori as "strong." XD)

Hatori: I won't.
Shigure: Kimi no souiu taido ga ichiban kotaerutte shitteru kuse ni!!
Hatori: I don't.

(Back to being calm.)

Shigure: You're too kind, that's all. And my kindness is part of my scheme (right)?
Hatori: Is that a compliment? Or is it a critique?
Shigure: Just pointing out the truth.

(We see Akito walking into the room where the four other jyunishi are waiting).

Shigure: And it's not as though Yuki is still a locked up child.
Shigure: Soon we'll see which idiot is the most mistaken.

Akito (with a smile that looks genuine): Thank you all for coming. Welcome.
Akito (now with a sadistic smirk): I love all of you.

(Back to Tohru and Kyou. It's now evening. They wonder if the others aren't eating over at Akito's place. Kyou proposes that they eat the rest of the pancakes, but Tohru rejects this idea. She wants to call them, but as Kyou points out, they don't know the phone number. Tohru decides to go look outside-- Kyou tries asking her what good that'll do, but she leaves before he finishes the question.

Tohru's worried. She admits that it's rude to think of Akito like that, but she can't get over how upset he made Yuki. She wonders if Yuki didn't end up going to see Akito after all. Just as Tohru is beginning to [comically] despair herself over what she can do, we hear, "Honda-san?" Yuki is behind her. He looks perfectly fine (at least, he certainly doesn't look as though he was crying his eyes out). Tohru is stunned to see him, and she starts asking him if he's okay. Yuki comments that he's fine, he just went out for a walk to think a bit. He's so natural and calm about it that Tohru begins to wonder if he met Akito at all. She knows that she should tell him that Akito is here, but...

There's a shooting star! The two of them admire the star's beauty, which makes Yuki smile-- and makes him start talking. He says that opening the lid (Tohru flashbacks to him saying, "I have to open the lid"-- presumably to his memories) was actually simple, and because it was so simple, it actually might be difficult.)

Tohru: ...Did... you open the lid?
Yuki (slight smile): ...Thanks to Akito.
Yuki: Thank you, for always listening to me. Thank you for always stopping my weakness.

(A picture of child-Yuki putting the cap on Tohru's head).

Yuki: *Thank you for not forgetting that day so long ago.*
Yuki: *I was so happy to help a lost child. I had been told that I was a useless human being, but that day, for a single moment, I was needed. Do you know just how happy that made me?*

Yuki: You don't know, do you? It was always me the one being saved.
Yuki: *Always giving me kindness, warmth, understanding. You've never hold back--*

Yuki: *You keep on giving.*
Yuki: So I won't give up. I'll keep going forward; I can go with hope. I'm sure of it.
(But).
Tohru: But, then why, why do you look so sad...?

(Yuki holds Tohru by her shoulders)

Yuki: *Just like the sky,*

(He all but kisses her forehead; a tear falls onto Tohru's face.)**click to see it *squeals***

Yuki: *It hurts*

(Still holding Tohru by the shoulders, Yuki leans towards her, and cries freely over her shoulder.)

Yuki: *Because you're so dear to me.*

The preview for the next chapter wonders what sort of memories will come back to Yuki, now that he's opened himself up to them.

TAKE 2 Same chapter different perspective by Ina-chan

Chapter 59 hana to yume issue 13 2002 (Hana to Yume belongs to Natsuki Takaya and Hakusensha co.)

Anywayz... re: chap. 58... I just skimmed through it and read the
parts that I can easily decipher (a.k.a. my bad eyes won't let me
read most of the furigana too well... and I'm too lazy to look up
the kanji in the kanji dictionary on the ones that I can read)... So
I would love to see a summary of this chapter! Please? ^_^.

<EVIL GRIN> But Of course knowing me... I immediately looked through
the Yuki angst parts at all cost! ^_^. So here are my thoughts on it
(these are quick translations, may not be accurate)...

<p.17 scene after Yuki sees Tooru put a blanket over the napping
Momiji, Kisa, and Hiro. Yuki's thoughts.>

<panel interposing Yuki and Akito>

...everyday

enduring all of Akito's cruelty

<darkened panel of young Yuki sitting hugging his knees>

In that pitch dark room, that intolerable darkness.

<blank panel above the panel with young Yuki looking up>

Kaasan and Tousan never came.
Niisan never came.

<panel showing another angle of Yuki looking out of the window from
where he was curled up from the corner of the room>

That gloomy room was how [I can] describe it from memory.

<p.18>
<Panel showing Tooru smiling down at the sleeping trio>

Yuki's thoughts: What I want is

<panel showing Yuki watching Tooru with a small smile>

Haru: ...Ah

<panel of Haru looking the same direction as Yuki>

Haru: Kyou...

<panel showing Kyou facing Tooru, Tooru signaling Kyou to stay quiet>

<p. 19>
<panel Yuki closes his eyes with an unreadable expression on his
face>

<next panel Yuki turning to leave while Haru stands up clapping dirt
off from his hands>

Yuki: For a little bit... I'm going for a stroll

Haru: Yuki

<panel focusing Haru's face>

Haru: ...what's your ordeal

<Yuki simply waves his hand and walks away>

<Next panel is the start of the Kyou-Tooru moment... which I will
leave to whoever chooses to translate this part... because I wanna
focus on Yuki~~~~{heart}! ^_^.>

<p. 26>
<This page continues the Hatori-Shigure conversation. I'm not quite
sure what exactly they're taking about because I didn't really read
it. But I think they were saying something in the line of Hatori
being a bit worried that the meeting [Akito and Yuki meeting again,
that is] would be too overwhelming [I'm assuming he's referring to
Yuki].>

<Panel Yuki continuing with his stroll and stops suddenly. Next
panel shows Yuki's surprised face>

<p. 27>
<Panel shows Kureno as if he suddenly turned around, facing the
audience>

<Yuki still very surprised>
Yuki: eh...
...eh?
Kureno...?

<panel showing Kureno bowing his head, his eyes closed, in greeting>

<next panel shows Kureno walking towards a figure sitting in the
near distance and talking quietly to him>

Yuki: Why are you here...?

<panel focusing on Yuki's very shocked face, eyes wide with
disbelief>

<p. 28>
<Shigure and Hatori ends their conversation... I'm too lazy...
gomen! ^_^.>

<blank panel>
Yuki's thoughts?: What is this ordeal

<p. 29>

<panel of Akito sitting on the rocks>
Akito: Yaa, Yuki. You're alone, as usual?

<Panel of Yuki, looking a little sad and frightened>
Akito: You're such a lonely child.

<blank panel>
Yuki's thoughts?: It's useless to fight.

<end of chapter 58>

Haaaaaaaa! It seems that Yuki is giving up before he's even begun to
fight! I'm getting pissed off! C'mon Yuki! If you don't resolve
this, you'll never be able to gain enough confidence to get Tooru!
And from the looks of things, Kyou is leaving you in the dust in
this race! >:).

This boy needs a good kick on the butt to kickstart his confidence.
I don't know what Shigure is up to, but it seems to me that he's
acting as a catalyst to an inevitable big explosion. I dunno if this
is going to be the resolution to the Akito-Yuki confrontation... but
for sure, this is a turning point for Yuki and the other Jyuunishis
who suffered under Akito's cruelty who are strategically present
there (most specially Kyou, Kisa, and Hiro).

Of all of them, Yuki is definitely the one who directly suffered
under Akito the most. If Yuki overcomes this "ordeal", then for sure
the other Jyuunishi will gain confidence to overcome their own
issues with Akito.
