Hana to Yume issue 12 (2002) Chapter 58

We're back at the beachhouse. The front page will probably be of interest to Haru/Kisa fans (but, I have to ask, why why WHY? o.O;; Kisa's a little girl...), since it's a black and white picture of Haru feeding her the strawberry from his strawberry shortcake. What a nice guy.

The chapter starts out with the shocking news that.... ta daa dumm.... Hiro's mom (named Satsuki) is pregnant! Everyone is happy, congratulates him ("Stop talking as if it's MY kid!"), etc, etc. (For those of you with a sharp memory, Satsuki is NOT going out with Hatori, no no no, that was all an evil lie by Shigure. Satsuki is Hiro's mom. Which makes sense, now, that the two of them were talking. If she was showing pregnancy signs, of course she'd go check it out with the family doctor).

Apparently Shigure has also joined the beach party, since he's there with a yukata and fan (Kisa: Why are you just sitting there? Shigure: Swimming isn't my strength. Kisa: You don't know how to? Shigure: No, I'd rather watch. *Hiro drags a confused Kisa away* Shigure: Kidding, just kidding. Middle school girls are too young for [even] me. XD).

A lot of the chapter is dedicated to... good-wishing watermelon opening?! Momiji has strange, strange ideas. (Haru as he punches open a watermelon: "Be the sort of brother who can smash open a watermelon." Everyone: "....What's THAT supposed to mean?") Just as Tohru is about to do hers, she not only nearly breaks her hand in the process, she says a bunch of garbled nonsense instead because she was going to talk about her mother but stops herself because she remembers that Hiro complaining about her mother-complex. Tohru also spends a lot of time contemplating how sad the rest of the cast must be about not being able to hug their mothers, about not being raised properly by their parents, etc, and how much she must have hurt them by talking so much about her mother. Kyou reassures her later that night, and tells her a bit about his own family (but not everything).

Yuki does some more angsting over being locked up in a dark room by Akito. Ladii daa.

At the end of the chapter, Hatori shows up. He and Shigure talk (I forget about what... but Hatori isn't entirely happy with how Shigure is treating everyone). He's not the only one who's come. Kureno is also there (Kureno being the guy who seems to be developing a romance with Arisa, and of whom Akito seems to be fond of) much to Yuki's shock (though we don't find out why), and on the final page.... AKITO. X3 We'll have to wait until the next Hana to Yume to find out more. :D]]
