Ferrum:---Or some people (most of them Japanese) would refer to this pairing as Yukiru. This is one of the two Furuba normal basic pairings (the other one is Kyo x Tohru, which you will see below).
I don't know a lot about people's general opinion, but from the first Furuba communities I came from, this is the pairing that have most opportunities to be 'paired up' in the original plot. Some people I know (in real life) said this as an argument, "Well, febs, what can you say? In almost all anime stories, the girl will be the pair off with the first boy she meets!"
I can't say anything about this. I don't agree with the sentence, but I think there's a 60% possibility that Yuki will be Tohru's pair.
The first of furuba novels/fan fictions/short stories contained either this pairing or Kyoru pairing. In many of them, we'll actually find that Yuki's the seme. But, in some fictions that I'd found recently, I know that some people had made fanfictions with Yuki as the uke. I don't actually know where I'd found this site, but when I went to some search engine, I read some warnings of [Yukiuke], and that surprised me. I don't know how Tohru could be a seme, but maybe (maybe, or is it just my crazy hentai thoughts) that Tohru is doing him in his rat form. (No offense, everybody. This is just my senseless hypothesis).

Even though this isn't my favorite pairing, I still think it's one of the sweetest. How can anyone deny the bond between Yuki and Tohru? It's beautiful the way Tohru looks after Yuki (when he's sick/when he's scared of Akito), and it's just as heartwarming when you see Yuki give Tohru his pure smile. It's almost impossible to decide once and for all who Tohru should end up with since the love triangle has been so firmly established. It would be too cruel to have Tohru pick one over the other. However, that's what fandom is for and I've read quite a few fics about Yukiru on fanfiction.net. I'm not saying I liked all of them, but they were still interesting to read.

Mona: YUKIRU Sweet & spicy me likes! ^_^ I've met a lot passionate yukiru fans on the net  and they tend to write  great fics  that keeps me coming for more :D  My personal favorites are Ina-chan's Wandering & Incentives and Chris's Grass under my feet (well that was a angsty yuki pov fic with a sad ending ;-;) I'd have to agree with Febby on the popularity of the pairing in Japan and over the net. It's probably number 1 in terms of fansites and fanfics. Close second would be Kyo x Tohru.

I think people like pairings based on their own personalities and find different things appealing.. I love kyoru because Kyo seems to need Tohru in a sense that's more urgent than Yuki (or anyone else) does. Yuki (although he's been tormented by akito and has other insecurities in his life) still has a lot of people that surround him and adore him.. Kyo was abandoned and only Tohru can make him feel worthy inside and I find that really sweet.. Kyoru.. Definitely my favorite pairing since the moment I saw them together. Cuter than words can describe. *melts into a puddle of goo*

Mona: I like Kyoru pairing too but i LOVE Kyo x Kagura :P of course i'd still read kyo x tohru (but i'm still waiting for a kyo x tohru fic in english that will blew me away like wandering did for yuki x tohru :X)

Merrow's gureru fic was an absolute pleasure to read. Although I can't ever see this happening on the show or in the manga, it's definitely one of those fun and challenging fic topics if you ever feel like writing. Shigure's a fun character and putting him with innocent Tohru is almost too cruel for the poor girl, but that's what makes it an interesting pairing. Maybe more writers should try working with gureru and post their projects on fanfiction.net for the rest of us to enjoy. ^_~

I have no special attachments to this pairing, though I find most of the fanarts about this couple very pleasing. In the world of fandom, I guess the broken Hatori seems like a good match for the pure healing that Tohru possesses. Mona (Ohimesama) once told me that the attraction about this pairing is Hatori's business-man "bring home the money" aura mixed with Tohru's "patient housewife" attitude. It sounds like an ideal marriage by traditional standards. Whatever the case, I hope those talented artists (Ferrum-san included) continue to make more beautiful toriru illustrations.

One word comes to mind - weird. And no, I'm not insulting the pairing or people that like this pairing. It's fine if you can make it work for you, but it's terribly difficult for me to imagine Tohru and Momiji falling in love or whatever else ;p since Momiji acts like Tohru's little brother. In fandom, though, anything is possible and if a story is well-written, I'll gladly read it, regardless of what the pairing may be.

Mona: I'm officially squeaked :DX nah i think it's cute. I'd have to agree that momiji despite his extremely affetionate ways with tohru sees her more as a mother or big sister figure than a potential girl friend. But that's part of the fun and if you venture into oedipal complex/fraudism i can make an argument that many guys tend to marry women who somewhat represent qualities they love or yearn for in their mothers :x  Now that said doesn't mean an older momiji x tohru can't work :D

Mona: hehe tohru just goes well with everyone . Most of these pairings are fan made and not quite canonllilike say Kyo x Tohru or Yuki x Tohru. So why do so many fans come up with Tohru x (insert your favorite Sohma male) pairings? I don't know the answer but i guess it's cuz she's so darn cute and nice :X   Not to mention she made the list of top 100 favorite anime characters of 2001 (which is quite a feat considering most of the characters on the list came from classic and well established anime series and furuba is relatively new) I know there are some people who don't like tohru but they're in the minority :P and i really don't get those people *shrugs*

Kyo and Kagura is a cute pairing, although it doesn't really suit the anime or the manga. The only one that can cure Kyo's spirit seems to be Tohru. Still, looking at the pairing from Kagura's perspective, you kind of feel sorry for her and almost root for her to get her man. I've seen messages where people outright *scream* their hatred for her and I find it unfair. Kagura can't really help that she loves Kyo, and even though she knows Kyo's heart belongs to Tohru, Kagura's still nice to Tohru. That should speak enough that Kagura's not a bad person. It would be easy if it ended with yukiru and kyo/kagura since that seems to be the most neutral solution to the love triangle.

Mona: YAY! *takes out her huge ass Kyo x Kagura 4-ever banner and runs around with it :D* hehe Dani's Digital Green is the ultimate Kyo x kagura fic :D  Dani feels quite strongly about this pairing and told me that one of the reasons she got inspired to write digital green was because she admired the strength and dignity kagura showed in the last couple episodes of the tv series.  It took a lot of self-control and love for her to resist the urge to run after kyo since she knew that the only person kyo wanted & needed understanding from at that point was tohru *sniffles* Anyways that's how i feel about this pairing too ^^

I'm not a huge fan of this pairing since most of the fictions I've read about these two were so out of character. However, Shataya Blake's Overcome was written so well, I can almost see this happening. By the way, that story is for audiences 17 years of age or older, so don't click on that link unless you're old enough! I must say this, though, two gorgeous young men who hate each other does make for good yaoi thoughts. ;p

Cute, aren't they? Hatori and Shigure have such contrasting personalities, but they've been friends for so long. It almost makes you want them to get together. Besides being beautiful, they're both intelligent men who can counter each other's strong attributes. I love the way Hatori can end Shigure's fun with one or two sentences. I can only see them as good friends, though, but I'd love to read some fictions about them. ^_^ 

Mona: i love this pairing! I think it's cute the way Hatsuharu called Yuki his first love. In all honesty, I don't think he means sexual love, but more of a admiration/love for your friends kind of love. Yet, he's even confused about how to express it so it comes off like sexual love and that's where everyone gets their yaoi ideas. It'd be okay either way since I really like how Haru cares about Yuki (the time he told Hatori to get Ayame since Yuki was getting depressed about it and how Haru smiled when Yuki thanked him the next day).

Mona: *nods* this is another underappreciated pairing. I'm not all that fangirlish about it but I see the potentials and it would definitely make for a sweet shounen a/yaoi if done right.

Yui-chan: Pairings for Ayame. First off I like three types of pairing for the silly
snake. ShigurexAyame. Ah yes this pair. Always fun, always outragous, always
speaking words of flowerly love and deep commited. Always full of bull. I
really think they like doing this routine to make people embarassed around
them...those guys. This could work but it seems more for flirting then
anything of substance. But, however, I think they would be lots of fun in
the bedroom and love to see of fic with them. O.O
Next, HatorixAyame. Now don't laugh. This one is possible. And also because
of they have opposing personalities, more interesting. So much potential to
write about. They have a connection. A more serious connection then Ayame
has with Shigure. Ayame respects Hatori. He hangs on his every word and
listens to him like there is noone else in the room but Hatori. Now that is
something. Ayame willing to give up center stage to someone. And he is
protective of Hatori. As much so as he is to Yuki. And Hatori is his strong
solemn self with him getting Ayame out of messes he gets himself into or
giving him words of advice. Ayame is a bright bird fliting around the
steadfast tree that is Hatori.

And last but not least. AyamexMine. Yes, a girl and a cute one at that!
Ayame and Mine were made for each other!!! They have the same interests.
They are both kooky. And Ayame confides in her. He can be serious with her
and tell her his troubles and for that I adore them together. And would love
to see more of them together. Yes, the fruitiest of the fruit with a girl.
But it is so right. Ayame I think is really bi-sexual so this pairing works
for me.

Ah! I was being greedy. I started writing a PWP story just to see if I could write yuri smut, but ever since I saw the drawing you made for it (along with the one I asked (kitsune)^2 to make so I can show two great art styles), I've been so intimidated since my story sucks so much to be paired with you gals' illustrations. I'm gonna work really hard on that story to make it deserve your drawings. But! let's just talk about the pairing itself.
